Since firmly establishing herself as a force to be reckoned with in the Australian DJ world, Havana Brown’s hustle hasn’t slowed for a minute and the results are in! As the only female DJ to sign a major label recording deal in Australia, Havana has delivered on Universal Music’s expectations with multiple releases of her Crave compilation series all charting and spurning successful national club tours. Crave Vol. 3 made it to the top five of the ARIA compilation chart and over 70,000 units of the Crave series have already sold in little over a year. The next instalment, Crave Vol. 4 is due in stores this May. Known for up-tempo R&B and hip-hop sets, tinged with a touch of electro-house, more recently Havana has extended her mix to include a hint of rock when the occasion calls for it.

The Melbourne-based DJ has raised eyebrows, pulses and hands across club floors around the world and her globe-trotting ways are now in overdrive. Following a score of exclusive VIP parties, including Paris Hilton’s New Years Eve Event, official DJ at the Grammy’s After Party in LA with WiIl.I.AM and national support spots for The Pussycat Dolls, Lady Gaga, Chris Brown and Rihanna in Australia, the word was out on Havana Brown’s ability to rock a stadium and Britney Spears’ people made a call, requesting her as the exclusive support actor her European Circus tour. And without a doubt, Havana did not disappoint, earning the same support role for Britney Spears’ Australian leg of the tour. It doesn’t get much bigger than supporting a pop superstar; Havana’s perfectly delivered party sets successfully warmed up crowds of more than 25,000 Britney fans and naturally earned her a huge new following across Europe.

Recently adding a performance at the Singaporean F1 Rocks event to her repertoire, Havana shared the stage with the likes of Beyonce and the Black Eyed Peas and now sits amongst an exclusive fraternity of Australian DJs that have established demand for their abilities internationally. Her appearance at F1 utilized Havana’s talents beyond her abilities as a DJ and saw her assume a hosting role for the event’s official behind the scenes show. Not content with her dominance of the local club scene, a successful compilation series, and the international demand for her DJ set, Havana now also holds down a weekly spots on Australian radio. Every Friday afternoon and Saturday night DJ Havana Brown can be heard on the Austereo network where she mixes sets for the popular “Ad Free Fifty” and “Party People” which reaches over a million listeners each week. And all of these achievements have been made after only five years behind the decks! Havana Brown grew up with a love of music but the journey that eventually lead her into DJing was almost accidental. As a singer, Havana joined the group Fishbowl and relocated to London to pursue opportunities with the band. Unfortunately, infighting saw Fishbowl disband before ever releasing an album and Havana Brown found herself in musical limbo. While partying in a London club one night she found herself drawn to the DJ’s ability to rock the floor. Despite having never previously considered the decks as a means of expression, Havana was sold on the idea of becoming a DJ that night. With early mentoring from DJ Panos (Supafly) Havana Brown began learning the basics and saved every penny to buy her first set of CDJs. Havana then began approaching skeptical club promoters and hustled her first series of DJ gigs by offering to spin free of charge, a strategy that eventually paid off and lead to regular appearances at some of the biggest parties in London. Since her early days in the UK, Havana has toured nationally across Australia as well as several tours to Asia including: Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia and China. Some of the most exciting news in Havana’s career is close to being officially announced but until that time, Mum’s the word. All we can say is “stay tuned,” as this young star is steadily rising and has much more to unleash on this world yet.
